Diary
We are drowning in exhibition invites for the London Design Festival and felt the need to organise the pile. Here is a selection of the events that we look forward to this week. For a full programme of events the London Design Festival's DNA of Design-designed site is nice and Icon offers a guide to selected events here.
Perspectives by John Pawson at St Paul’s Cathedral19-23 SeptemberMinimalist architect John Pawson has taken on the capital’s most famous landmark St. Paul’s Cathedral by Sir Christopher Wren. Here he has installed a meniscus – the largest lens possible to manufacture – at the foot of the Geometric Staircase. 23m above it a spherical convex mirror has been suspended, creating a reflected perspective of the space. Pawson teamed up with crystal experts Swarovski for this piece. If you’re lucky you’ll have an invite for the London Design Medal in the cathedral on the 19th. If not, you can visit the installation until 23 September. |
